Decluttering A few months ago I started taking inventory of my life and realized that I had so much stuff in my house that I no longer used and it was just taking up space. Just little things! Some were broken or sentimental pieces of something (that I had no idea where it came from) and it was just taking up space! So I decided right then and there it was time to get rid of stuff! And I’ve been doing that. And guess what? It’s really freeing! I mean it!! It feels so good to walk into the kitchen or office space and everything has it’s place! Love it! Psalms 51 David was crying out to the Lord in this chapter after committing adultery with Bathsheba, wanting to be clean from all iniquities. Have your ever felt like your life was so cluttered with sin, (maybe not to the extent of David, or so you think), that you couldn’t feel the presence of God in your life any longer? I’ve learned it doesn’t matter the extent of the sin, sin is sin and when it’s in your heart you have to delcutter! Like David said in verse 11, “Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.” I HAVE!! And guess what? It was totally destroying my life! Body, Mind and Soul! As I began to cry out to Him on one of my early morning walks, and began to tell Him how I was feeling and telling Him that I couldn’t do this any more and that I needed Him. Only then was He able to show me the things that I needed to declutter from my life! I had stored things like, anger, bitterness, envy, hurts and all of them were stopping the flow of the Holy Spirit from working in my life. These things were not only killing me spiritually but also physically. Today, (3 months later), I’m still decluttering my life, and it feels really great! To walk in freedom is so rewarding and fruitful! Do days sometimes feel dark and gloomy? Yes! But it’s how I choose to handle each situation that makes me an overcomer!! I choose life, so I choose to declutter! So I’m asking you today, are there things in your life that might be hindering you from lingering into God’s presence? Physical or Spiritual! It doesn’t’ matter because in the end it still has an effect on us!! Be Free!!! Declutter!!! Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. My Tip Of The Day: Smile more! It’s a pain-free, cost effective face lift! It takes out those wrinkles and makes you look a whole lot younger!! And it’s fun to do.
