John 15: 1-4 says, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine-dresser. Every branch in me that bears no fruit, He takes away. And every branch that bears fruit, He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean through the word which I have spoken to you. Remain in Me, as I also remain in you. As the branch cannot bear by itself, unless it remains in the vine, neither can you, unless you remain in Me.”
Pretty plain spoken isn’t it? He is the True Vine!! So here is another question: Are you and I producing fruit? Are we remaining in Him? Verse 4 says that to bear any fruit we have to remain in Him! We cannot walk this walk alone!
Last summer I planted two little Red Bud trees in my yard!! They both looked really healthy! They had leaves on them and were very green on the inside, so that let me know that they weren’t dead, but living healthy trees! I have been watching them this Spring just to see if they were going to bud leaves! The one in the front yard is thriving! The leaves are coming out and are very colorful! However the one in the back yard has not shown any signs of life! No leaves! That makes me sad! So, guess what I’m going to have to do? You guessed it! I’m going to have to pluck that dead tree out of the ground so I can plant another tree in its place!
That’s the same as our Father God! A lot of times He has to pluck something out of us so that we might grow more in Him! That’s called heavenly do-overs!
I find myself a lot of times just basking in God’s Presence, as long as I Remain In Him! But when I begin to push my prayer life (or reading and studying) aside then I feel myself beginning to die on the inside! I know what makes me grow! It’s when I Remain In Him!!
My desire is to bear the Good Fruit! The fruit that sustains me! He says every branch that bears fruit, He prunes, that it may bear more fruit! The pruning process sometimes doesn’t feel so good, but when the NEW Fruit begins to grow, it’s all worth it.
Abide In Him Today!!
