Love Thy Neighbor!!

How many of us can say that we love our neighbor? How many of us can even say that we know our neighbor?

You may think your neighbor is is the person or people that live next to you or around you! And that’s true, but your neighbor is also the person sitting next to you in church, or standing next to you in the choir, or classroom or even at your job! Your neighbor is in all the places that you function in your everyday life! I have to admit I don’t always take the time to get to know my neighbor because of the simple words “not enough time.” But that is no excuse.

I’ve taken food to my elderly neighbors! My husband has mowed their yards when they couldn’t (for whatever reason), I have gotten to know one of my neighbors through the years by walking with her 2-3 times a week. Now I know some neighbors don’t like to be bothered but a smile when you pass them or a wave may brighten their day! You just never know what that does for a person!

I challenge you today to look around and see if there is someone that is in your circle that you could do something for. Befriend them, ask them how are they doing today. Just anything to acknowledge that you SEE THEM!

If your neighbor at church has not been attending, find out why! Give them a call of encouragement–I think everyone could use a little of that! If they are sick take them a meal, clean their house, mow their yard, whatever it takes to show them that you love them!

“If, however, you are [really] fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “Y OU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF [that is, if you have an unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit]” you are doing well.”          ‭‭JAMES‬ ‭2:8‬ ‭AMP‬‬

I believe in the long run that it takes our eyes off of our problems and sets us on a path of helping others, and ain’t that what life’s all about?

Be Blessed Today!
